About Us
Kannada Balaga UK was the result of a few people aspiring to get kannadigas in United Kingdom under one umbrella in 1983.
Kannada Balaga UK has always remained a secular organisation with membership open to people from all faiths and religions. The Executive Committee and its members are bound by rules and articles of a written constitution. The principle motto has been to interact and and gel the two generations and cultures together. Kannada Balaga UK has grown from strength to strength since its inception due to dedication and contributions of its members. The organisation has grown from five families at inception to over 900 families and counting!
From the beginning, Kannada Balaga UK has hosted innumerable social, cultural, literary, educational and charitable activities.
These have contributed to increased awareness of its culture to the younger generation but also the host community. The youth of Kannada Balaga continue to take great interest in the history and rich heritage of Karnataka and bring forth views and ideas which in itself is an achievement for bringing two generations together.
Kannada Balaga organises two cultural events annually, that provide an opportunity to meet family and friends. The Ugadi event is generally held in April and Deepavali in November. These social events also serve a very important aspect of Kannada Balaga – it raises funds for charitable causes in Karnataka and the United Kingdom.

Aims and Objectives
To promote, facilitate, organise, and participate in cultural, educational and other charitable activities for the benefit of Kannadigas resident in the United Kingdom and/or in India; to revitalise and revive Indian traditions including, and in particular, the traditions of Karnataka among its members, the future generation and the local community who are interested in Indian culture.
To advance education of the public in the subject of Kannada Language, Kannada Literature, Karnataka’s art, culture, tradition, music, sport in the United Kingdom and India. This will be undertaken by organising suitable events in various parts of UK and/or through our publications. Where necessary specialist talent from UK or abroad shall be invited to perform in those events.
For poverty alleviation in India and in particular in Karnataka by providing: grants, items and services to individuals in need or to charities, or other organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty.
The relief of financial need and suffering among victims of natural or other kinds of disaster in monetary form (or other means deemed suitable) for persons, bodies, organisations and/or countries affected.
To advance in life and help young people through:
- The provision of recreational and leisure time activities provided in the interest of social welfare.
- Providing support and activities, which develop their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as mature and responsible individuals.
ನಮ್ಮ ಗುರಿ ಮತ್ತು ಧ್ಯೇಯಗಳು
ಯುನೈಟೆಡ್ ಕಿಂಗ್ಡಮ್ ಮತ್ತು ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಿರುವ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರನ್ನು ಒಂದುಗೂಡಿಸುವಂತಹ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ, ನಮ್ಮ ಭಾರತ ದೇಶದ, ಅದರಲ್ಲೂ ಕನ್ನಡನಾಡಿನ ಪರಂಪರೆಗಳನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿ ಬೆಳಸಿ, ಅದನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮ ಯುವ-ಪೀಳಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಗೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆಸಕ್ತಿಯುಳ್ಳ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಸಮುದಾಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಜೀವಂತವಾಗಿಡಲು ನೆರವಾಗುವಂತಹ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ, ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಇನ್ನಿತರ ದಾನಶೀಲ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿ ನಡೆಸುವುದು.
ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಪ್ರಕಟಣೆಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಸಮಾರಂಭಗಳ ಆಯೋಜನೆ ಮೂಲಕ, ಯುನೈಟೆಡ್ ಕಿಂಗ್ಡಮ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಭಾರತದ ಸಮುದಾಯದಲ್ಲಿ, ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆ, ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ, ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಕಲೆ, ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ, ಪರಂಪರೆ, ಸಂಗೀತ, ಕ್ರೀಡೆಗಳ ಪ್ರಗತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆಗಳ ಸಾಧನೆ. ಅಂತಹ ಸಮಾರಂಭಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನ ನೀಡಲು, ಯುನೈಟೆಡ್ ಕಿಂಗ್ಡಮ್ ಮತ್ತು ವಿದೇಶಗಳಿಂದ ವಿಶೇಷ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಗಳನ್ನು ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸುವುದು.
ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ, ಅದರಲ್ಲೂ ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ವಿವಿಧ ಭಾಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಬಡತನ ನಿರ್ಮೂಲನದ ಸಲುವಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ದಾನಶೀಲ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಸಹಭಾಗಿತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಹಾಯಧನ, ವಸ್ತುದಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಇತರ ಸೇವೆಗಳನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸುವುದು.
ಪ್ರಪಂಚದ ವಿವಿಧ ದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯ ವೈಪರೀತ್ಯಗಳಿಂದ ನೊಂದ ಜನರು ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳ ಸಂಕಟ ನಿವಾರಣೆಗೆ, ಸಹಾಯಧನವನ್ನು (ಅಥವಾ ಇನ್ನಿತರ ರೀತಿಯ ಸೂಕ್ತ ಪರಿಹಾರಗಳು) ಒದಗಿಸುವುದು.
ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಗತಿ ಸಾಧಿಸಲು ಹಾಗೂ ಯುವಜನಕಲ್ಯಾಣದ ಸಲುವಾಗಿ: ಮನರಂಜನಾ ಮತ್ತು ವಿರಾಮ ಸಮಯದ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಬೆಂಬಲ ನೀಡುವ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು. ಯುವಜನರ ಕೌಶಲ್ಯ, ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸಿ, ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಪಡಿಸಲು ಸಹಾಯವಾಗುವ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಪೋಷಿಸಿ, ಅವರು ಸಮಾಜದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರೌಢ ಮತ್ತು ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಯುತ ಪ್ರಜೆಗಳಾಗಿ ಮುನ್ನಡೆಯಲು ಬೆಂಬಲನೀಡುವುದು.
