Kannada Balaga UK is the oldest Kannada organisation in United Kingdom. It began with humble roots after a handful of families decided to form a Kannada organisation in 1982. The purpose of the organisation was to get Kannadigas under one roof, to promote the rich culture and heritage of Karnataka and to expose their children to Kannada language, culture and tradition. The term “Balaga” denotes a family – an extended family encompassing all Kannadigas in the United Kingdom.
Kannada Balaga has grown from five registered families to over 800 registered families and counting; there are first, second and third generation Kannadigas actively interacting and participating in our events & activities.
This is the official website of Kannada Balaga UK. Kannada Balaga UK is a Registered Charity (Reg. Charity number 326572). The aims and objectives of the organisation are to promote kannada language, culture and heritage in UK. Kannada Balaga is not affiliated to any religious or political organisation and welcomes everybody with links to Kannada language to join us irrespective of their faith, beliefs, religion, caste or sexual orientation.
Kannada Balaga is involved with various charitable activities in UK and India through its charity wing. All members and office bearers have honorary positions and fulfill their roles on voluntary basis.
Kannada Balaga conducts two cultural events annually – Ugadi and Deepavali. Income generated through these events is spent on charitable donations.

‘ಎಲ್ಲಾದರೂ ಇರು ಎಂತಾದರೂ ಇರು ಎಂದೆಂದಿಗೂ ನೀ ಕನ್ನಡವಾಗಿರು’ ಎಂಬ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಕವಿ ಕುವೆಂಪು ಅವರ ನುಡಿಗಳು ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ನನಗೆ ನೆನಪಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಇಂಗ್ಲೆಂಡಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ನಮ್ಮ ಒಡಹುಟ್ಟಿದ ಅನಿವಾಸಿ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರು ಕನ್ನಡವನ್ನು ಮರೆಯದೆ, ನೆಲೆಸಿರುವ ನಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡದ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯ ಕಂಪನ್ನು ಹರಡಲು ಶ್ರಮಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗನು ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ ಪಡಬೇಕು.

“ಎಲ್ಲಾದರು ಇರು, ಎಂತಾದರು ಇರು ಎಂದೆಂದಿಗು ನೀ ಕನ್ನಡವಾಗಿರು” ಎಂಬ ಕವಿವಾಣಿಯನ್ನು ಆಧರಿಸಿ ಬೆಳೆದು ತನಗೆ ೩೦ ವರ್ಷ ತುಂಬಿದ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾರ್ಷಿಕೋತ್ಸವವನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿರುವ ಯು.ಕೆ.
ಕನ್ನಡ ಬಳಗ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗೆ ಶುಭಾಶಯಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಅಭಿನಂದನೆಗಳು. ಯು.ಕೆ. ಕನ್ನಡ ಬಳಗವು ವಿದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳೆದ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಕನ್ನಡವನ್ನು ಕಲಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನದಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿರುವುದು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಶ್ಲಾಘನೀಯವಾದ ಸಂಗತಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಆಂಗ್ಲಭಾಷೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯ ಬೆಸುಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ವಿದೇಶದ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಭಾಷೆ ಮತ್ತು ತಾಯ್ನಾಡಿನ ಬೇರುಗಳನ್ನು ಪರಿಚಯಿಸುವ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಯತ್ನ ಸಫಲವಾಗಲಿ. ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆ, ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ-ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹಿಸುವ ಇಂಥ ವಾರ್ಷಿಕೋತ್ಸವ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನಗಳ ಸಂದರ್ಭಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುವ ವಿಚಾರ ವಿನಿಮಯದ ಮೂಲಕ ದೇಶ ಮತ್ತು ವಿದೇಶಗಳ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರ ಸಂಬಂಧ ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ವೃದ್ಧಿ ಯಾಗಲಿ ಎಂದು ಹಾರೈಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.

ಕನ್ನಡಬಳಗದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷೆ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಸುರೇಣು ಜಯರಾಂ ಮತ್ತು ಬಳಗದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸದಸ್ಯರುಗಳಿಗೂ
ನನ್ನ ಶುಭಾಶಯಗಳು. ಮೂವತ್ತು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಕನ್ನಡ ಬಳಗವು ಆರಂಭವಾದಾಗ ನಾನು
ಅದನ್ನು ಉದ್ಭಾಟಿಸಿದ್ದೆ. ಡಾ. ಸ್ನೇಹ ಕುಲಕರ್ಣಿಯವರು ಆ ದಿನ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷೆಯರಾಗಿ
ಆಯಿಕೆಯಾದರು. ಈಗ ಬಳಗವು ತನ್ನ ಮೂವತ್ತನೆಯ ವರ್ಷವನ್ನು ಸಂಭ್ರಮದಿಂದ
ಆಚರಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಸಂತೋಷದ ಸಂಗತಿ. ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರು ಆಗಾಗ್ಗೆ ಸೇರುವುದರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಕನ್ನಡ
ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳನ್ನು ಓದುವ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು ಅಗತ್ಯ. ತಮ್ಮ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಚಿಕ್ಕ
ವಯಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದಲೇ ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುವುದು, ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಕನ್ನಡ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳನ್ನು ಓದುವುದು,
ಹಾಗು ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಗದಗಳನ್ನು ಬರೆಯುವುದು ಮೊದಲಾದವನ್ನು ಕಲಿಸಬೇಕು.

ಆತ್ಮೀಯರೇ, ಕನ್ನಡ ಬಳಗದ ದೀಪಾವಳಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ನಿಜಕ್ಕೂ ಅದ್ಭುತವಾಗಿ ನಡೆಯಿತು

‘ಕನ್ನಡ ಬಳಗ- ಯು.ಕೆ.’ ಹಲವಾರು ದಶಕಗಳಿಂದ ಇಂಗ್ಲೆಂಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ತುತ್ಯರ್ಹ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತ ಬಂದಿರುವುದು ಲೋಕ ವಿದಿತ ಸಂಗತಿಯೇ ಆಗಿದೆ. ಪ್ರತಿ ದೀಪಾವಳಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಯುಗಾದಿಯ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂಗ್ಲೆಂಡಿನ ವಿವಿಧ ಭಾಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡದ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಂಡು, ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಿಂದ ಖ್ಯಾತ ಸಾಹಿತಿ, ಕಲಾವಿದರನ್ನು ಅತಿಥಿಗಳಾಗಿ ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸಿ, ಗೌರವಿಸಿ, ಹೊಸ ತಲೆಮಾರಿನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಲ್ಲಿ ತಮ್ಮ ತಾಯ್ನಾಡಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಆದರಾಭಿಮಾನಗಳನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿ ಬೆಳೆಸುತ್ತ ಬಂದಿರುವುದು ಹಾಗೂ ತನ್ನ ಕನ್ನಡತನ ಪಸೆಯಾರದಂತೆ ಈವರೆಗೂ ಕಾಪಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದಿರುವುದು ಈ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಹೆಗ್ಗಳಿಕೆ. ನಾನೂ ಸಹ ಕೆಲವು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಈ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಅತಿಥಿಯಾಗಿ ಬಂದು ಅದರ ಆದರಾತಿಥ್ಯಗಳ ಅವಿಸ್ಮರಣೀಯ ಸವಿಯನ್ನು ಉಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಇದೀಗ ಈ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ತನ್ನದೇ ಒಂದು ಅಂತರ್ಜಾಲ ತಾಣವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಸಂತೋಷದ, ಸ್ವಾಗತಾರ್ಹವಾದ ಸಂಗತಿ. ‘ಕನ್ನಡ ಬಳಗ- ಯು.ಕೆ.’ಗೆ ನನ್ನ ಹಾರ್ದಿಕ ಅಭಿನಂದನೆಗಳು.
