Kannada Kali Latest News

You can read the same in Kannada here.

Kannada Balaga members with children of school going age have shown a great interest in teaching their children Kannada language, especially the spoken language.

In response to this enthusiasm Kannada Balaga U.K has planned Kannada teaching classes called "Kannada Kali". These classes and the teaching methods are based on those of Kannada Kali classes that have been successfully run in the USA for the past 10 years. One of the teachers there proudly said that these young Kannada children of USA are doing much better than their counter parts in the Karnataka itself.

Many young members especially the second generation of Kannadigas and Kannadathis have come forward in taking active part in starting Kannada Classes to their young children here in the United Kingdom. The classes are based as a "self help group" of Kannada Balaga members. A group of 5 to 10 members with their young children meet at a convenient locality near their homes that is easily accessible. They meet once a week (or two weeks) and initially run a "Spoken Kannada" classes. The parents are given initially an orientation on how to set up and run the Kannada Kali classes successfully.

If you are interested in running a Kannada Kali Class near your home please let us know as soon as possible. We can have a meeting at a convenient place so that we can discuss the issues like, how to set up the classes, what teaching material are needed for these classes. The project is run on a voluntary basis and the cost of running is kept to the minimum as there are no hired teachers involved but only the parents acting as volunteer teachers. Parents are encouraged to search for places which are available free or with minimal fees. Local community centre, school rooms or rooms in a church or temple or a doctor's surgery could be explored to run these classes. Please contact one of us for further discussions
